Visited on a recent trip to Glasgow and it was a very good experience overall. I had the classic style of burger in the form of the American and it was excellent. Well-seasoned beef on a robust bun with a side of fantastic tater tots I could just polish off a bowl of. My partner had the same burger with a side of terrific onion rings. Service was notably good with staff being super friendly to us and tables nearby, as well as knowledgeable about the product
Great food and high value for your money. They consider your allergies seriously and prepare the food especially for you.
The waitress was very friendly and supportive to find a proper dish.
The American burger I had was very good and completely dairy free.
We sat directly at the window and it was pretty warm, but with nice view on the road.
We had a fantastic dining experience at the Fat Hippo restaurant, and I must say that our server, Lucy, played a significant role in making it memorable. The food we ordered, including the Trickle, Born Slippy, and American Burger, was delicious. Lucy's attentive and friendly service added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Her recommendations were spot on, and she ensured we had everything we needed throughout our visit. I highly recommend the Fat Hippo and commend Lucy for her exceptional service!
We went in on Saturday for lunch. Was shown a table with plenty of space for my guide dog Wee Skye. She was happily chilled on floor next to me
The beer battered cheese balls were amazing , I could have just filled up on those. We shared these before our burgers.
I had the classic American. Was delicious, I’m not big on chips so opted for the purple slaw. I couldn’t quite finish my burger , was deceptively big. But I enjoyed every mouthful.
My friend had the big white buffalo. I was going to get this but realised it was thigh so wasn’t sure. She also picked the hand cut chips with dirty fries. She enjoyed it all.
All in all a very enjoyable lunch , will definitely be back. Definitely want more of the cheese balls 😋
The place to go if you wanna have a sloppy burger. My partner and I shared our burgers, with an american burger and a semi-parmed life burger. I personally enjoyed the chicken burger a lot more, I found the buttermilk chicken tender and crunchy. For the american burger, I usually prefer my patty to be juicier and more flavourful. Overall, it was a good experience.
Went in here as we passed at 5:30 and it was busy enough for that time. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, attentive on allergen from the minute you speak to them at the door. The menu had plenty of choice on it and the service was quick, we only waited 10 minutes after ordering for food. The burger was awesome and this was my first visit, would return! 🍔
This was definitely one of the top 3 best burgers I've had in Glasgow. The dirty fries were great too. The portion size is huge - I couldn't finish it even though I was starving before walking in and I pretty much always eat everything I order. If you've got a huge appetite then you might have more success than me, but I would've been happy with half my portion so you might even be able to share a portion between 2 people. The service was very friendly and the prices were right so we'll definitely be back.
First time coming to any of the fat hippos. As you would expect on a Saturday night near the end of November, it was pretty busy. There was plenty seats available downstairs but we were made to stand about near the bar which was getting a bit crowded with everyone else that was waiting to be seated. Admittedly there is a pane of glass between where everyone is herded up waiting to be seated and the nearest table, which ended up being the one we got sat at, but it feels like everyone is standing over you with all their outdoor clothes on whilst you are eating your meal. Service was fine and food was delicious as I expected it would be.
